a collage of medieval and modern art to describe my interests!

Who am I?
A question we must all ask ourselves. For the moment, I am merely "Pleistocene".
Aspiring medievalist, full-time reader, part-time dreamer.
I am (for the moment) an Oxford, you read that right, Oxford student, and I am determined to make the most of it. I shall be cataloguing my grand adventure here, and by God am I determined to do it regularly. The blogging world may postdate my academic areas of interest, but luckily, I'm here to drag medieval Europe on-line. Before such grand tales, though, I must discuss my current interests. I am a hopeless fan of J.R.R Tolkien, whose writings have irrevocably changed my life. I have a current passion for monks, and you'll often find me trying to bully my friends into watching "Into Great Silence" (Philip Gröning, 2005) a dialogue-free film about Carthusian monks at the Grande Chartreuse. So far I have not succeeded. I am often reading, and I will endeavor to keep track of my books here.

The road goes ever on and on,
Down from the door where it began.
Now far ahead the Road has gone,
And I must follow, if I can,
Pursuing it with eager feet,
Until it joins some larger way
Where many paths and errands meet.
And whither then? I cannot say.
